Jazeen is a prisoner—not in a jail or a dungeon, but in her own home. Her parents, guilt-ridden since the death of their oldest daughter, never allow her out of the house except to attend school.

A chance encounter with Angus, an eccentric airship captain and retired wizard, is going to change all that, sending Jazeen’s life in an entirely unexpected direction. Thrust into a reality where magic isn’t make-believe and evil witches really do exist, Jazeen faces a hard choice when Angus is taken prisoner by a bounty hunter set on delivering him to the Black Witch.

Jazeen isn’t about to sit by and let her new friend face the Black Witch alone. She knows exactly what the witch wants and is willing to risk her life to offer a trade.

That is, of course, if Jazeen can cross The Great Ocean in Angus’s airship, a week-long trip made even more dangerous with Jazeen’s limited piloting hours. There she must track down and bargain with an evil witch who kills anyone who so much as disappoints her.

Jazeen might be strong enough and clever enough for this endeavor, or a painful death might be her only reward for her efforts.

When I open my eyes, he’s staring at me. I see the sides of his mouth lifting as he watches me lick my lips. Feelings I haven’t had for a long time start to flow through my body. It’s like molten gold running through my veins, warming me and flicking at parts of me that I thought had died. I take another bite of my pancake. Is it the food making me feel like this? Or is it the very intense, very handsome man staring at me?
He seems to have forgotten he was talking to his friend. He lifts his coffee cup in a greeting to me, and I feel the color flushing my cheeks. Oh my God, since when do I act like a blushing virgin? I’m normally in control of my life and my emotions, but right now I feel like I’m spiraling out of control.
I lift my cup in return, and he stands up.
Oh my God. Oh my God, is he coming over to me? My heart races out of control; now I’m panicking.
He hasn’t taken his eyes off me, and he’s definitely coming over. His friend reaches across and grabs his arm, then holds out a phone to him. Seemingly annoyed to be disturbed, he takes the phone, and his face changes in seconds.
Shit, something bad must have happened.
He starts shouting into the phone. “Are you serious? Who would dare do that?” I don’t hear anything else he says as he turns away from me. He gathers his briefcase as his friend picks up the papers, and they both storm out of the restaurant.
I finish my pancakes and coffee, then sit back in my chair, looking around me. I’m surrounded by businesspeople rushing to their first meetings, but I take my time to enjoy my last hour here.
Just as I’m about to leave, I get a ping on my phone.
Ghost Vincent Verse 1.2
I smile as I read it, then check out of the hotel and make my way home. I have research to do.

Krissy V hated English at school. Really hated it. She gave up on English literature in the fourth year because she detested writing stories; she couldn’t make them up to save her life. She disliked writing precisely and was horrendous at grammar. Having lived in Norway when she was younger, English was her second language. When she received her iPad six years ago, she started reading on the Kindle app and wrote to an author about how much she enjoyed her book. That opened up the whole Facebook author world to her. She started reviewing books–the irony is not lost on her–and then started beta reading–even more ironic–after pointing out several  mistakes in a book plot she was reviewing before release. She realised she had a story in her. While she knew everyone said that, she really believed she did. Thirteen books later… welcome to the world of Krissy V!
